What is almond flour?

Ground up almonds. There are two kinds: almond meal and almond flour.

What’s the difference between almond flour and almond meal?

Both are made by grinding almonds to a fine powder.

Almond meal =  coarser grind from almonds that still have their skin (you’ll see brown flecks)

Almond flour = finely ground from almonds with skins removed (blanched almonds)

Why is almond flour good for me?

If you’re looking for more healthy, monounsaturated fats in your diet and a lower carbohydrate substitute, almond flour can do the trick, plus it adds extra protein to your favorite meals and treats. It’s also great for those with celiac disease, gluten sensitivities or those who avoid gluten in their diets.

How do I use almond flour?

It can be substituted for some of the all-purpose flour in baking or other recipes.

What kind of almond flour should I buy?

I typically buy almond flour as it’s more versatile and won’t cause as much density in recipes. Always buy a brand that has the only ingredient being “Blanched Almonds”.
